(virtual) Book Club: The Creative Habit

“Everything is raw material. Everything is relevant. Everything is usable. Everything feeds into my creativity. But without proper preparation, I cannot see it, retain it, and use it.” Twyla Tharp

As a child I used to love to paint though as I got older most of my creative activities slowly began to fade out of my life. Since my love for painting has never left me, I have been spending the past few months trying to tap back into my creative side.

I came across Twyla Tharp’s “The Creative Habit: Learn it and Use it for Life” and instantly dived in. I broke out my red pen and started marking up the book with my thoughts, findings and aha moments. Twyla, a dancer and choreographer, gives examples and exercises that are not only for creative movement but taught me to find creativity in everything I do, from washing the dishes to cooking all the way to painting and dancing.
