I don’t do drama.1463097_824157850994798_4816279188949119135_n

Mental drama.  You know that pesky inner voice that ruins your amazing, brilliant idea.  The “no, you can’t” when you are trying to figure out how you can.

It is desperately holding you back from living the life you crave.

What if every time you wanted to do something you listened to the drama, oh how boring life would be.

Instead, what if every time you wanted to do something you ignored the drama, the “no, you can’t because blank, blank and blank reasons” and you figured out a way to make it happen.

That sounds like a better option.

Every time I try to drive this into my writing or goal setting, I always come back to my teacher training program that I led last year.  I didn’t own a studio, I had absolutely no idea if people would sign up and I didn’t know the first thing about creating a yoga teacher training program. All I knew was that I wanted to lead one because I knew I had valuable tools to share with people.

Cue the drama.

I can’t do this because I don’t own a yoga studio.

I can’t do this because what if no one signs up and I wasted time and money for no reason.

I can’t do this because how the heck do I even do this?

So I put it on the back burner for a while because I was listening to the drama. Until I realized that I desperately wanted to do this and there absolutely had to be another option.  The answer could not just be “no”.

Breaking out my handy notebook (I always carry one with me) I began to jot down some ideas, different strategies and ways I could make this work.  In the end, I rented space from a studio I was teaching at, I reached out to the Yoga Alliance who helped me set up the entire YTT program and template and I decided that if no one signed up, oh well, at least I gave it a shot and had fun creating and planning it.

I dropped the drama.

Every day since then I try to bring that into everything I do. The end result might look different, it might not be exactly what you had imagined but there are a million and one ways that you can make something happen if you step back and look at the bigger picture.

5 Step Cheat Sheet to Dropping the Drama and Making Things Happen:

1. Recognize it.

2. Step back and look at the bigger picture.

3. Be flexible (brainstorm different approaches & look at it from different angles).

4. Reach out to others for help when needed.

5. Just have fun with the process.

Where are you bringing drama into your life and where can you drop it?
